The Proud Successor To NASL

The history of Major League Soccer is a colorful one. The game has always enjoyed a reputation among the American crowd, particularly in the Northern States. The North American Soccer League (NASL) enjoyed and basked in the glory and fame that lasted from 1968 to 1984.

MLS was formulated to be a bigger and more inclusive space for nationals and intercollegiate events and to carry the same legacy forward. The MLS first came into being in 1993. What started with the ten clubs and a huge loss today is a thriving association with players like David Beckham and several others.

The Games

The MLS follows the format coming under the aegis of the United States Soccer Federation, with twenty-five teams from the US and Canada competing for the main cup. A regular season usually begins by the end of February or early March.

The games follow a single-elimination format, with each team playing 34 games and the best ones making it to the playoffs. The team having the best on-field record receives the Supporters' Shield.

Out of all the 34 matches, the fourteen clubs qualifying and moving ahead play in the postseason MLS Cup Playoffs. Lastly, it's these playoffs and the finals that culminate in the league's main game, the Major League Soccer Cup.

The Teams

The league currently has twenty-eight clubs from different domestic teams in US and Canada. There are 25 playing teams from the US and three from Canada. Some of them include Atlanta United, Austin FC, Charlotte FC, Chicago Fire FC, FC Cincinnati, etc.

These teams and their players are a delight to watch on the field. You would love the thrill of the game and await results with bated breaths. Just book your tickets to the live MLS soccer games and you are in for a fun, adventure-filled evening.
