Scott Speck and the West Michigan symphony welcome guest artist Olga Kern, the striking young Russian Gold Medal winner of the 2001 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, to play one of the most technically challenging piano concertos in the standard classical repertoire, Rachmanioff's Piano Concerto no. 3. in D minor. Also featured is Tchaikovsky's final completed symphony, the Pathétique, which the composer premiered only nine days before his death.
